President Cameron with DG Willard, Gabrielle and PP Aslam. On Thursday August 1, RCSE enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of food and fellowship as we celebrated Eid at the home of Past President Aslam and his wife Naz.
Eid al-Fitr, the ‘festival of breaking fast’ also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, the Sugar Feast, Bayram (Bajram), the Sweet Festival and the Lesser Eid, is celebrated by Muslims worldwide. It marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. This is a day when Muslims around the world show a common goal of unity. In Fiji, families open their homes to friends, neighbors, family, and co-workers.
We were joined by District Governor Willard Martin and his wife Gabrielle who also enjoyed the delicious assortment of curries, sweets, and, of course, samai- the traditional dish of fine vermicelli noodles in sweet milk.
Many thanks to PP Aslam and Naz for welcoming us into their home. Eid Mubarak one and all!
