Two Suva Rotaracters, President Kristyn Lobendahn and Mesake Dawai, joined RCSE last week to share some exciting news with our club. As Kristyn reported, their club recently assisted in chartering the new Rotaract Club of Nadi- New Horizons- bringing 60 new young members into the Rotary family. The chartering event included leadership training for the new Rotaract Board as well as a panel discussion. Rotaract clubs are specifically geared toward young professionals ages 18-30 who have passion for giving back to their communities. It’s great to know that the pool of young members is expanding into the West and we look forward to supporting Rotaracters from all around Fiji in their community projects.
In a related note, Kristyn extended her thanks to RC Suva East for supporting Rotaracter Bipen last year in his application to attend the RYLA Youth Leadership training in New Zealand. Two out of four current Rotaract Suva board members are RYLA alums and, as a RYLA alum herself, Kristyn highly recommends the training and encourages all Rotaract members to give it a go. One member she’s hoping will participate this year is lawyer Mesake Dawai, who accompanied her to last week’s meeting.
RCSE sincerely thanked Kristyn and Mesake for their presentation to the club and looks forward to receiving Mesake’s RYLA application later this year.
