Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP) is a lifestyle education and intervention program that is targeted at empowering you to live a healthier Life. It is currently run by Dr Alipate Vakamocea, the Director for Health at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church Fiji. The program is supported and endorsed by the Ministry of Health, Fiji Medical Association and many other corporations who have seen the positive impact that CHIP has had on their workers.
CHIP is an intense 30 day lifestyle enrichment program designed to reduce disease risk factors through the adoption of better health habits and appropriate lifestyle modifications. The goal is to lower blood cholesterol, hypertension, and blood sugar levels and reduce excess weight. This is done by improving dietary choices, enhancing daily exercise, increasing support systems and decreasing stress, thus aiding in preventing and reversing disease. The key to the CHIP is a plant based diet, which, in addition to being good for health, is also very good for the environment, as meat and dairy production contribute most of agriculture’s greenhouse gas emissions.
