By joining the Rotary Club of Suva East, you will become part of a world-wide organisation of business and professional leaders who are united in fellowship to provide humanitarian service, to encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, to create goodwill, and achieve peace throughout the world. We encourage membership in those who will adopt these high principles of Rotary as their own.
The RCSE is composed of generous and dedicated professional men and women who are passionate about giving back to their community. We are educators, accountants, doctors, bankers, architects, entrepreneurs, retailers, managers, and technical specialists from diverse organizations and businesses throughout Suva.
In addition to our weekly lunch meetings, we organize numerous annual charity fundraisers to support local and global Rotary initiatives. We also organize community work days, as well as social events and learning opportunities.
Membership in Rotary Clubs and Rotary International
Rotary defines itself as a non- partisan and a non- sectarian organization according to its constitutions (“Charters”). The Club is open to businesses and professional leaders of ages 18 and upwards. New members must be invited or sponsored by an existing club member.
Active membership
Active membership is by invitation from a current Rotarian, to professionals or businesspersons working in diverse areas of Endeavour. The goal of the clubs is to promote service to the community they work in, as well as to the wider world. Many projects are organized for the local community by a single club, but some are organized globally.
Honorary membership
Honorary membership is given by election of a Rotary Club to people who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals. Honorary membership is conferred only in exceptional cases. Honorary members are exempt from the payment of admission fees and dues.
Diversity and Rotary International
Rotary International acknowledges the value of diversity within individual clubs. Rotary advocates clubs to assess those in their communities who are entitled for membership, under existing membership guidelines, and to endeavor to include the appropriate range of individuals in their clubs. A club that reflects its community with regard to professional and business classification, gender, age, religion, and ethnicity is a club with the key to its future.
Membership Application
There are, of course, many privileges of membership and I think you will quickly find that one of the most important of these will be your regular enjoyment of the fellowship of like-minded individuals in a non-competitive and egalitarian atmosphere, not only in this Club, but anywhere in the world where Rotarians gather.
- Come to one of our meetings and meet our members. We encourage prospective members to come to three or more meetings before applying for membership.
- Schedule a time to speak one on one with one of our board members to learn more about our projects and activities and see if Rotary is right for you.
- When you’re ready to join, a current financial member will recommend you for membership. We’ll also schedule an induction
